Active Later Life

Active Later Life aims to help you maintain your independence through keeping active in later life.

We deliver an evidenced-based strength and balance programme including group sessions and home based activities. The programme is designed to help you improve your balance, strength, co-ordination and your confidence to get out and about.

The Active Later Life team work very closely with local NHS professionals and GPs who refer people to the team. We have a team of instructors, who are well qualified and experienced to support you to improve your strength and balance. Our programme is flexible and can be adapted to meet your health needs. Our participants enjoy getting out of the house and meeting like minded people as well as benefiting from being more active. 

     

 
Community Strength and Balance

We have group sessions across the borough in church halls and community centres. Sessions last approximately 45 minutes, cost from £2.50. Transport is available to some of the groups. The class is partly seated and partly standing. Below is list of the classes. Skilling Up Groups

We have two smaller group sessions a week at a lower level than the community sessions. If needed you can access this for 10 weeks and as you become stronger, more stead and confident you will be ready to start the community sessions. These groups are free and transport can be provided.

Home Visits

We do provide home visits if you are unable to leave your home but can take part in some very low level activity. We can come and meet you to discuss the options available to you and where appropriate give you a programme to do at home along with support for up to six weeks.
