Scotman's Flash Activity Centre

We are pleased to announce that Scotman’s Flash Activity Centre is now open. We will be open Monday to Saturday every week.

 

Activities/Sessions

We are currently running 3 activities; Rafted Canoeing, Stand Up Paddle Boarding & Kayaking sessions.

We hope to reintroduce other session and activities in the coming weeks, so please keep checking for updates or follow us on Facebook for all our latest announcements.

Rafted Canoeing

  • Available Monday to Saturday at 9.45am, 10am, 12.15pm, 12.30pm, 2.45pm or 3pm.
  • Saturday Sessions 9.45am, 10am, 11.45am, 12.15pm, 2pm, 2.15pm, 4.15pm, 16.30pm
  • Session duration is 1.5 hours
  • £44 per raft
  • 4 to 6 people per raft
  • Suitable for age 3+ (with adult supervision)
  • Maximum 2 households per raft due to current Covid 19 restrictions

Stand Up Paddle Boarding

  • Weekday sessions Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 9.30am, 10.15am, 12pm, 12.45pm, 2.30pm or 3.15pm
  • Tuesday evening HIRE sessions at 2.45pm, 4.45pm, 6.15pm, 6.20pm
  • Saturday sessions 10.15am, 10.20am, 12pm, 12.05pm, 2.25pm, 2.30pm, 4.30pm, 4.45pm
  • Session duration is 1.5 hours
  • £10 per person
  • 8 per time slot (2 sessions of up to 4 people run at the same time)
  • Suitable for age 10+ or 8+ if an adult is also hiring a board

Kayaking

  • Available Monday to Saturday at 9.45am, 10am, 12.15pm, 12.30pm, 2.45pm or 3pm
  • Tuesday evening HIRE sessions available between 14.45pm and 6.20pm
  • Saturday sessions available between 10.15am and 4.35pm
  • Session duration is 1.5 hours
  • £10 per person
  • Suitable for ages 5+ (5 to 7 year olds to be in a double kayak with an adult, age 8+ if adult is also hiring a kayak)

Making a Booking

  • Please see the links above to make your booking.
  • Booking in advance is essential.
  • Payment is taken at the time of booking.
  • Upon making a booking, we will send you a confirmation email and a form to be completed (participant details with terms & condition/consent). Please email the completed form back to outdooradventure@ihlmail.org at least 24hrs before your visit, or at the earliest possible convenience if booked within 24hrs of activity taking place.  
    • We will not be accepting paper copies at site and we cannot allow you to participate without the consent forms.
  • Sessions are limited to a maximum number of participants as in the booking, you cannot add anyone else on the day.

 

Important to Note

  • Due to ongoing Covid-19 restrictions and in the interest of your safety, we are currently NOT providing wetsuits.
  • We will be providing buoyancy aids as usual for your safety.
  • On the day, please bring with you:
    • A towel
    • Swimsuit/swim shorts
    • Your own wetsuit (if you have one and want to use it!)
    • Spare shoes/trainer that can get wet
    • A change of clothes
    • Hat & sun cream if hot weather
    • Water bottle

 

On Arrival & Departure

  • Please arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before your allotted session.
  • Please park only in the parking bay allocated to your booking.
  • Please vacate the site within 15 minutes after the end your session. 
    • If you are allocated a parking space, please wait in your vehicle until your allocated waiting zone is clear.
    • Please then wait in your allocated waiting zone before commencement of your session.

 

On-site Etiquette

  • Please only attend site if you are taking part in the session or to drop a participant off, no spectators allowed at this stage.
  • Please follow all instructions, failure to do so may result in being asked to leave and no refund will be given.
  • We will be adhering to social distancing guidelines and maintaining the required distance apart at all times. There will be systems in place to help with this.
  • Food must not be consumed on site; A personal water bottle is fine.  
  • You may be asked to carry and move equipment around a little more than normal under the instruction from a member of the Scotman’s flash instructional team.
  • We will still be providing safety cover but will only breach the social distancing if there is a more serious risk. With this is mind, please consider your own ability. 
  • Adapted sessions have age restriction’s, please ensure this is adhered to.
  • Please do not attend a session if you or a member of your household feels ill or has symptoms of Covid-19.
  • Please advise a member of staff if you or a member of your household feels ill during your session.

 

Parking & Facilities

  • Please note that we may not be able to offer a parking space for 1 person bookings.
  • We advise that you walk or cycle to site if possible as parking is limited. Please wait in the allocated waiting zone before commencement of your session. Please maintain social distancing from other group participants who are not part of your household.
  • Boat house toilets will be available on a 1 in, 1 out basis.
  • Changing rooms will not be available, please bring towels to change by your vehicle if you need to change.

 

What is Scotman's Flash?

Scotman's Flash is a fantastic outdoor adventure centre just 10 minutes from the centre of Wigan featuring a huge lake and lots of exciting experiences for everyone to enjoy.

Scotman's Flash is the perfect place for watersports, whether you're brand new to canoeing, sailing and kayaking or want to get your game on with courses and qualifications to match your skills.

Please note that due to Covid-19 restrictions only the activities at the top of the page are currently available. 

 

Our usual offering (pre Covid-19) includes a vast range of water sports, including coaching and courses for people of all abilities delivered by our fully qualified and friendly instructors.
