Summit mascot makes entrance

Mylo and Karlson meet YOLOMeet YOLO the yeti, Summit Indoor Adventure’s new mascot!

The furry character was named by Mylo Blaymire (aged four) and Karlson Cawkwell (aged nine) of Selby Abbey CE Primary School.

Pupils from schools across the district suggested names in a competition run by Inspiring healthy lifestyles, which will manage the new centre on behalf of Selby District Council.

Pete Burt, Managing Director of Inspiring healthy lifestyles, said: “All the children who entered did a great job using their imagination to come up with some excellent names. YOLO stood out for us as it’s modern and in the spirit of what Summit Indoor Adventure is all about – having fun getting active.”

Jo Jennings, headteacher at Selby Abbey CE Primary School, said: “Summit is an exciting addition to the facilities in the town. As a school we promote healthy lifestyles and we hope that the Summit will inspire children to take part in new activities.”

Summit Indoor Adventure opens in Scott Road on Saturday 28 May, offering a variety of activities for all the family. These include an aerial trek, adventure climbing, ten pin bowling and adventure play, as well as indoor skiing and snowboarding and an indoor skate park. A café and restaurant are also available on site.

An outdoor skate park, designed following consultation  with local skate park users, will also be built on site with work due to start in June and be completed by August.

The £5.7m project is being delivered on behalf of the council by Alliance Leisure, with construction partner ISG taking the role of principal contractor.
