Weight loss programme gets the balance right

Losing weight can be a losing battle.

But thanks to our Move It and Lose It weight management programme at Selby Leisure Centre, dozens of people are tasting victory every week!

It’s proving so popular and successful that, by the end of June, we’d welcomed 219 Movers onto to the free 24-week programme, which sets a body weight loss target of 5% in the first 12 weeks.

The target thereafter is to maintain weight loss through weekly exercise and activity.

Many have now completed their incredible journey and many more are well on their way.

And the amazing news is we’ve so far seen a combined weight loss almost 850kg (134st), with an individual average loss of 3.87kg (8.55lb)!

This is a wonderful achievement for everyone on the programme and thanks to their commitment and determination, fostered by the Move It and Lose It team, their weight loss has already made a life-changing difference.

Move It and Lose It is available to anyone aged 18 and over with a BMI of 30 or above and you can self-refer or go through your GP.

You’ll benefit from a personalised physical activity programme tailored by one of our specialist instructors, weekly group meeting support from Slimming World and a Food Optimising eating plan.

Participants get free access to our leisure centres, including low impact fitness classes, gym, swim, walking football and health walks.

Crucially, you’ll be welcomed into a warm and supportive environment which is essential to weight loss success.

Plus, you’ll receive motivation and expertise from our weight management professionals.
