All the movers and shakers are at Rugeley Leisure Centre!

Members at Rugeley Leisure Centre have been named in the top 10 ‘movers’ for the UK!

This March they took part in the Technogym ‘Let’s move for a better world’ challenge alongside 417 centres across the UK. 593 members took part in the challenge over 20 days and ran up an impressive 2,191,826 moves seeing them placed 8th in the UK!

The challenge, which required members to sign up through the Technogym MyWellness App, saw the gym being used more frequently and for longer by participating members which also encouraged team spirit in the gym. Along with encouraging physical exercise, the challenge also saw a boost in the social element of attending the gym too.

Ben Boden, Fitness Supervisor at Rugeley Leisure Centre said: “The challenge created a great buzz in the gym. Our members really bought into the team ethos and in the first week when everyone realised we were sitting in 11thposition, and doing really well, it motivated them to do more.

“It also sparked a great social atmosphere with members who had never before communicated with each other now chatting.”

Gym regular, Dawn Winton said: “The effort as a team was fantastic, it was great to see so much extra motivation from so many members.”

Both members and staff at Rugeley Leisure Centre fully embraced the spirit of the challenge and are over the moon with the result and can’t wait for the next one.

Eight Inspiring healthy lifestyles leisure centres took part in the challenge and often use the App to create challenges for each site.
