Following news of new restrictions coming into place in Greater Manchester, we would like to reassure you we are still open and ready to welcome you back to Ashton, Standish, Leigh and Wigan Life Leisure Centres this weekend. Howe Bridge and Robin Park leisure Centre will also remain open. Our procedures have been but in place to ensure the highest levels of safety for you and our staff. Please read the below FAQs for more information.

We ask that when you do visit our sites you stick to government guidelines and maintain distance between yourself and members from other households.

We’re asking everyone to register NOW on our brand NEW booking system called Leisure Hub.

When we open you’ll need to book in advance before you visit for all gym, swim, group exercise and other activities on site.

Making sure the total number of people in each of our Leisure Centres is controlled via online booking is one of the many ways we’ll help everyone stay safe and maintain their social distance.

Registering is also easy. All you need is the unique number on the back of your Lifestyle Card (the one under the barcode) and your email address. Click Here to register

Don’t worry if you can’t remember your Lifestyle Card number, fill in the form via the link below we’ll send it to you.

www.inspiringhealthylifestyles.org/requestmydetails

I have lost my lifestyle card, how do I get access to the card number to set up an online booking account?

Please email tellus@ihlmail.org. Our team will provide you with your lifestyle card and assist in setting up your account.

Can I book within the Leisure Centre?

Our investment into online booking makes it easier for you to book online. However, if you do want to book at site, you’re more than welcome to.

Many of you will, like us, be really looking forward to returning, some of you may be apprehensive and some might not quite be ready. We totally understand.

We will be reopening our Leisure Centres in a phased way during July and early August. This is the safest way to ensure we can bring our staff back and deliver the essential training they need before reopening to make your experience as safe as it can be.  And don’t forget, if you have a membership with us, you can use any of our sites.

Here’s a list of reopening dates for our Leisure Centres in Wigan, Greater Manchester; Selby, North Yorkshire and Cannock Chase, Staffordshire.

Don’t forget you can use any of our Leisure Centres with your membership.

Hindley Gym and Pool

Hindley Leisure Centre will re-open on Saturday 8 August with a brand-new group exercise programme, outdoor fitness programme and racket sports.

Unfortunately, the gym and pool at Hindley will not re-open initially but we will be reviewing this decision within the next few weeks.

The gym at Hindley, given its size and layout, is simply not big enough to allow meaningful social distancing to take place.

In order to operate our swimming pools safely and to make best use of our entire pool space across all of our leisure centres, Hindley Pool will initially open for swimming clubs and for our Summer Swim School programme.

Taking this approach will mean more space is available at our bigger Leisure Centres such as Leigh, Wigan Life and Howe Bridge for all members to enjoy more casual swim sessions.

We’d like to apologize to all our customers for this inconvenience but also remind you that your membership gives you unlimited access to Leigh Leisure Centre, Howe Bridge, Robin Park, Wigan Life, Ashton and Standish Leisure Centre.

In recognition of this reduced access for the next few weeks, members will pay just 75% of their direct debit payment in August and September. Alternatively, if you wish to continue to freeze your membership, please contact us.

It has not been an easy decision for us as a business to not open the pool and gym and we hope that you appreciate that we have made this decision because we have put the safety of you and our staff first.

When we open you’ll need to book in advance before you visit any of our sites.

Making sure the total number of people in each of our Leisure Centres is controlled via online booking is one of the many ways we’ll help everyone stay safe and maintain their social distance.

Registering is easy. Please visit www.inspiredbookings.org

All you need is the unique number on the back of your Lifestyle Card (the one under the barcode) and your email address.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact tellus@ihlmail.org

Cannock Chase, Staffordshire

Phase 1 – Saturday 25 July – Chase Leisure Centre

Phase 2 – Saturday 1 August – Rugeley Leisure Centre.

What activities will be available and when?

Gym and classes will be available in Phase 1.

The swimming pool at Chase Leisure Centre will re-open as part of Phase 2 with lane swimming, family swim sessions and Aqua-aerobics. We’ll be restarting our Learn to Swim programme in September. Unfortunately, the pool at Rugeley won’t open initially.

You can find a full list of activities when booking online via our new Leisure Hub Booking system at inspiredbookings.org.

Don’t forget you can use any of our Leisure Centres with your membership.

When will Rugeley Pool, Cannock Chase re-open?

Unfortunately, during lockdown major structural works were identified following a leak at Rugeley Pool. We are in the final stages of conducting a structural survey but what is clear, is that Rugeley Pool will need significant investment for it to re-open.

As soon as we know more, in terms of how long this work will take, we will update you.

Your membership means you can use any of our sites, including the pool at Chase Leisure Centre. We apologise for the inconvenience this causes.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact tellus@ihlmail.org

Selby, North Yorkshire

Phase 1 – Saturday 25 July – Selby Leisure Centre

Phase 2 – Saturday 8 August – Tadcaster Leisure Centre.

What activities will be available and when?

Gym and classes will be available in Phase 1.

The pool at Selby will open Saturday 1 August with lane swimming, family swim sessions and Aqua-aerobics. We’ll be restarting our Learn to Swim programme in September.

You can find a full list of activities when booking online via our new Leisure Hub Booking system at inspiredbookings.org

Unfortunately, the gym at Tadcaster won’t open initially. See below for more information.

Why is the gym at Tadcaster, Yorkshire not opening?

Our members safety, as well as that of our employees, is extremely important to us.

We have assessed all of our Leisure Centres to provide safe social distancing and new customer routes to ensure people can do this.

Our approach has been informed by industry and public health guidance. Unfortunately, the gym at Tadcaster, given its size and the size of the changing areas is simply not big enough to allow social distancing to take place.

We have, therefore, taken a decision not to open it initially. We apologise for this inconvenience but would remind members who use it that your membership means that you can work out at any of our other Leisure Centres.

We will continue to monitor guidance and will re-open as soon as it is safe to do so. A new group exercise programme is available at Tadcaster Leisure Centre. You can find a full list of activities when booking online via our new Leisure Hub Booking system at inspiredbookings.org.

We value your membership and hope that you understand the difficult decision we have had to take and will take advantage of the group exercise programme and access our other sites

If you have any questions or concerns please contact tellus@ihlmail.org

Our new opening times will be from 8am until 8pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday with the exception of Hindley and Tadcaster. This will be continually reviewed and extended in the coming weeks.

Hindley Leisure Centre, Wigan will open 3pm until 8pm Monday to Friday and 9:30am until 11:30am Saturday and Sunday.

Tadcaster Leisure Centre, Yorkshire will open 9.30am until 12.30pm and 5pm until 8pm Monday to Friday and 8.45am until 10.45 am on Saturday and 9.30am until 11.30am on Sunday.

These revised opening times will mean that we can control the number and flow of customers within the Leisure Centres and to support our phased approach of reopening activities within the centres. It is our intention to review the opening times during August with hours changed to suit the demands placed upon he centres for September.

Payments for memberships will only recommence in August on the same date of the month as your March 2020 collection.

We also recognise that as we reopen safely, in a phased manner, you will not have the full range of offers and access you were used to pre-lockdown.

Therefore, members will pay just 75% of the direct debit charge for the months of August and September with the membership returning to its full price for the October collections. Should you wish to discuss your membership please contact tellus@ihlmail.org

We’ve made many changes to the way we operate to ensure your safety is our number one priority.

Learn To Swim customers will continue to have their memberships frozen until September when lessons will recommence. The 75% discount does not apply to Learn to Swim memberships.

If you are still shielding or simply not ready to come back yet, contact us at tellus@ihlmail.org.

Members have been telling us their fitness level isn't as good as it used to be before lockdown and that they can't wait to get back to the gym, group exercise and pool.

In preparation for when we can open and welcome you back, we are asking everyone to inform us of any changes to the state of their health by completing a short, confidential health questionnaire.

This information will help keep you and other members safe and healthy and will be handled confidentially in accordance with data protection regulations and our privacy policy.

If you inform us that your health has changed, our team of specialist instructors will be in touch. They will ring you to understand your fitness goals, review your existing programme and give you advice about any changes and one of the benefits of your membership. Click on the link here to take the questionnaire.

  • Try to leave at least 5 metres between yourself and another swimmer, and always maintain a minimum space of 2m from other swimmers.
  • Release breathing under water where possible.

When you’re on our sites remember to keep left, keep safe and keep healthy. We’ve introduced a “one-way” system and it’s pretty simple.

Follow the green arrows when moving around to get somewhere and the red arrows to leave. Our primary objective is to ensure the safety of our staff and customers.

We've reduced exercise class numbers to allow social distancing and introduced heightened hygiene regimes, plus additional hand sanitisers and hygiene stations, if people want to clean any kit themselves.

We’ve introduced tougher, more robust procedures covering the cleaning of the Leisure Centres in-line with Covid-19 and industry guidelines.

We have invested significantly in additional cleaning products and have programmed cleaning breaks in the activity programmes to ensure our teams can clean spaces without customers in the area.

Cleaning of high traffic areas and touch surfaces will be continuous throughout the day, this is supported by cleaning stations within the gyms, that members can use to clean equipment, and investment in hand sanitisation units at key locations throughout the buildings.
